Internship Requirements
One of the ways in which the Law Academy prepares students for demanding college coursework and challenging careers is through our prestigious internship program. We are able to provide quality internship experiences for our students because we continually provide quality interns to our business partners. To uphold the reputation of our Academy and insure that our students are prepared for success in their internships, we impose a number of rigorous requirements on our internship candidates.
Only those students who meet the following requirements will be eligible to apply for an internship through the Law Academy. Potential candidates must have:
1. A cumulative average of 75.
2. A cumulative average of 80 in law classes (this includes English for Law and Finance and Computers for Law and Finance).
3. 90% daily attendance rate or better.
4. Passed the following Regents by January of junior year.
o Biology OR Earth Science
o Math A
o American History
o Global History OR English
5. Four credits of physical education.
6. A recommendation from the Dean verifying that the candidate has had no disciplinary incidents in the last 6 months.
7. A recommendation from the Law Coordinator verifying that student’s attendance, enthusiasm (as judged by participation in Academy events and clubs), work ethic and professionalism in class meet the standards of the Academy.
8. 100% Participation in all “Dress for Success” Days.
9. Completed the Internship Application.
10. 100% attendance at all mandatory Academy meetings and workshops.
11. Obtained working papers, social security cards and other required documents by December of junior year.
12. Submitted a professional resume by Friday, February of junior year.
13. Attended a mandatory internship orientation meeting with their guardian.
14. Participated in a mock interview.
